Updated List! software package

I’ve updated the software package for the List! magazine. There are now 6 type-ins, where one has been taken from GB64. I’ve named the new package as v2, version bumping will happen when more filles gets added.

Thanks to RetroPlay for typing (copy/paste ocr) these games.

The package now consists of:

  • (c64) 4 på stribe (4 in a row)
  • (c64) Bøvse Reset (Burp/Belch Reset)
  • (c64) Darth Vaders revenge
  • (c64) Hot Space Duel (from GB64)
  • (c64) Intruders
  • (c16) Car Race

Care to help?

I have so much raw material that needs cleaning up, I’d be delighted if there are someone who can help out, so we can speed up the process of getting out new magazines.

I can even make a dedicated video tutorial for how I clean the Amiga Advis pages.

Though it’s in generally the same as the way I show here http://blog.tomse.dk/2013/09/16/using-gimp-to-clean-up-scanned-images/, but much less work!: remove black borders, set white/black balance, perhaps make a small rotation, save.

Same tutorial is shown below.

Amiga Advis 1/99

Amiga Advis 1/99Yet an other Danish Magazine is added, Amiga Advis 1/99.

I recently bought a Blu-Ray burner so I can backup the scanned images here. Yes I’m keeping the original images, but also the post-processed ones. Since each page is around 28megs, it’s a lot of data even for DVD’s. I ordered some Blu-Ray media, but I received DVD media instead, the person who packed it even put a checkmark for the packed stuff. I wonder how one can see a 25 pack blu-ray spindle, becomes a 50 pack dvd spindle. Anyway since I didn’t have much space on my NAS, 5GB free, I’m now making a backup of all finished stuff to a harddrive.

This will hopefully make enought space for the vast amounts of magazines, books and manuals I’ve stored on my portable computer.

Amiga Assembler hardware programming by Photon/Scoopex

For a long time have I wanted to learn to code Assembler on both Amiga and C64/C128.

Photon from Scoopex has made some really great video tutorials for programming assembler on the Amiga, the tutorials are still in progress. I’ll list them all beneath here. You might need to have a little knowledge of assembler and the Amiga hardware, as the tutorials doesn’t explain much about this. It’s not a requirement though.

I’ve made a playlist of this page instead og posting each video. It the long list of embedded videos simply made the browser heavy.

Site Maintenance

MustekI’ve been doing some updating to how the pages look like, some more info are now given, making it look better too.

I hope you enjoy the small change I’ve done.

I have also started adding the frontpage scans of the magazines I have, waiting to be scanned. For now I’ve only added a few Amiga Format pages, and while wanting to continue, I’d have to stop. This is due to my A3 scanner once again makes stripes on the scanned images.

If you’re intending to buy a cheap A3 scanner and are looking at the Mustek USB 1200S scanner. Don’t!.

This is the second scanner of this model I have. The first one got replaced on warranty, and so is this second one going to be. I think I’ve only made 10 scans on this second one, already it’s broken.

New section, List

List! Issue 01RetroPlay, who are known for making new WHDLoad releases, got this magazine in an auction. At the time of writing it isn’t known if this is the only Issue ever released.

A great Thanks to RetroPlay for aquiring this magazine.

On an other note. Kiwi, over at http://oldgamemags.com, is putting a last hand on tweaking his site using my PHP script. I think we are both equally satisfied with the result.
At a later time, I might implement the code on this site here as well. He had some very good ideas which I really like.

Amiga Format 104 & 107 Updated

As I promised yesterday, I would clean up all the pages in the newly added magazines.

As you can see from the result, it’s a major improvement.

Unfortunately, because of the large amount of pages, Amiga Format will be added with JPG images, as opposed to PNG. Acrobat does a little work on them to compress the images while I OCR them too. Each magazine would otherwise be around 500 megs in size.
